Every year, 6 departments of the faculty offer their students new specializations. Today it is “Sociocultural Expertise”, “Social Structures and Processes”, “Social Communications”, “Methods of Sociological Research”, “Political Marketing and Political Counseling”, “Political Sociology”, “Management of Social Processes”, “Social Management”, “Social Security”.

Sociology students, social workers, and political scientists study more than 100 different courses, including methodology and organization of sociological research, political imageology, social policy, psychology of mass communications, advertising theory, sociology of markets, practical marketing, public relations theory, public relations basics, theory parties and party systems, etc. In May 1999, at the initiative of sociologists, political scientists were established s Social Research Foundation. The main objective of the East Ukrainian Social Research Fund is to promote research, socio-technological and socio-engineering activities based on modern achievements of sociology, economics, political science, jurisprudence, social psychology, urban planning, and other social sciences. In 2011, the faculty opened a press center, which is the base of practice for students studying social communications.

The best students of the faculty are awarded honorary scholarships named after the world-famous scientists N. N. Kovalevsky and E. A. Yakubi.

Graduates of the faculty work in universities, advertising, and marketing agencies, the media, press services, public opinion research firms, government and local governments, social services, etc.

Faculty students usually take an active part in numerous competitions, olympiads, etc. Only in the 2010-2011 academic year they won prizes at the All-Ukrainian competition of student research papers in sociology, political science, the All-Ukrainian Student Olympiad in sociology, the university stage of the International Competition of Ukrainian Experts P. Yatsik language, International Academic Popularity Rating “Golden Fortune”, competitive selection of the Victor Pinchuk Foundation’s scholarship program “Tomorrow. UA” in the scientific direction of “psychology and sociology. ”
